Privacy Policy

1. Data Controller

The data controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Dr. Simon Springmann
Wörther Straße 10
10435 Berlin, Germany
Email: simon.springmann@launchlabs.de

2. General Information on Data Processing

I take the protection of your personal data very seriously. I treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy. The use of this website is generally possible without providing personal data.

3. Server Log Files

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in server log files, which your browser automatically transmits. These are:

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Hostname of the accessing computer
  • IP address
  • Time of the server request

The data is collected on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimization of their website.

4. Hosting

This website is operated by external service providers (hosts). The personal data collected on this website is stored on their servers. The application is hosted by Fly.io (Fly.io, Inc., USA; server location Frankfurt am Main); the database is operated by Supabase (Supabase, Inc.; server location within Europe). These providers process the data exclusively on my behalf as processors pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in the reliable and secure operation of the website). Where data is thereby transferred to the USA, this is based on appropriate safeguards (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

5. Reach Measurement (Self-Hosted Web Analytics)

To analyze and improve my offering, I operate my own self-hosted reach measurement. No third-party services such as Google Analytics and no cross-site tracking cookies are used. When the pages are accessed, the following data is collected and stored in the database referred to in section 4:

  • Pages and sections viewed, as well as scroll/engagement behavior
  • Date and time of access
  • Referring page (referrer) and, where applicable, campaign parameters (UTM)
  • Browser, operating system, device type and screen resolution
  • IP address and an approximate geographic origin derived from it (country, region, city), the internet provider, and whether access occurs via a data center/VPN

To determine the approximate geographic origin, the IP address is transmitted to the external geolocation services ipapi.is and ipwho.is. These services may process the data outside the EU. The data is not merged with other data sources and is not shared for advertising purposes.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in the statistical evaluation of usage behavior to optimize the website). You can object to this processing at any time pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR (contact details in section 13).

6. Referral Tracking

This website uses its own self-hosted referral tracking system. When you visit this website via a link with a referral parameter (e.g. ?ref=source), the following data is collected once and stored in the database referred to in section 4 (PostgreSQL, hosted at Supabase):

  • The referral parameter (source)
  • The visited page (URL)
  • Your user agent (browser identification)
  • Your IP address
  • Time of access

To avoid duplicate recording, the browser's sessionStorage API is used. This is not a cookie — the data is only stored for the duration of the browser session and is automatically deleted afterwards. The data is not shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in analyzing the origin of visitors to optimize marketing measures).

7. Contact Form

If you send me messages via the contact form, I process the data you provide (name, optionally company, email address, your message) as well as your IP address and the time of submission in order to process and respond to your inquiry. This data is stored in the database referred to in section 4. To send the email notification, I use the service Resend (Resend, Inc., USA) as a processor; the contents of your inquiry are transmitted to Resend for this purpose. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR (performance of pre-contractual measures) and Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in handling inquiries). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for processing and no statutory retention obligations apply.

8. Cookies

This website does not use cookies for tracking or analysis purposes. No third-party cookies are set. For referral detection, only the browser's sessionStorage API is used, which is technically not a cookie and does not permanently store data.

9. Google Fonts

This website uses Google Fonts for uniform font display, provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. When you access a page, your browser loads the required fonts into your browser cache to display texts and fonts correctly.

For this purpose, the browser you use must connect to Google's servers. This gives Google knowledge that this website was accessed via your IP address. The use of Google Fonts is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the uniform presentation of the typeface on their website.

More information about Google Fonts can be found at https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and in Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

10. Analytics and Advertising

This website does not use any third-party tracking or analytics services (such as Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel) and no advertising networks. Reach measurement is carried out exclusively via the self-hosted system described in section 5. Your data is not sold and is not shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

11. Your Rights as a Data Subject

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)

12. Right to Lodge a Complaint with a Supervisory Authority

Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR. The competent supervisory authority is:

Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit
Friedrichstr. 219
10969 Berlin
